Sitting, Waiting, Wishing...

Today I sit here, wondering when my little girl will come into this world. At the last doctor's appointment, I was 1 cm dilated and 0% effaced. Now, I know being 1 cm dilated does not mean anything but it gave me hope that there was some progress being made. But, at the 36-week mark I still have felt zero contractions. But, that may be changing.

Saturday - routine wake-up at 3:15 am to empty the bladder...notice that *ahem* my mucus plug, maybe we should call it bloody show instead, is beginning to make its way out. Don't think much of it since a week ago I thought I had lost it. Well, a few hours later when I wake up once again, my "show" is definitely coming out. And this time, it definitely resembles the googled pictures that show the lovely MP. All day my MP/BS works its way out of my hopefully effacing cervix! Menstrual-like cramps all day, but no contractions. I know that once the bloody show expels itself labor could be anywhere from hours to weeks away. Needless to say, all day I pay special attention to each and every twitch and cramp my body delivers. Re-reading the same text, googling the same "signs of labor" boards...all giving me the same information. Max is laughing at me, he is so ready for his little girl. He washes my clothes and we go and pick up trial sized toiletries to pack into our hospital bag.

Sunday I awake to pangs of tightness in my abdomen. It hurts to turn this big belly over. The tightness subsides, as now I am thinking it is nothing but gas.

Next doctors appointment is Thursday, we will see what progress has been made. I'm thinking and hoping that these last two days will give way to more dilation and more importantly, more effacement.

All we know is that mommy & daddy are here waiting for you, Lola. You're welcome at any time.

you're a brave woman to talk so openly about the plug. But you're safe when you're talking to any mommy! We've all gone there and back! Some of us...twice!

This is great progress, honey! You're getting there.
